My Notion on “Media Campaigns and perceptions of reality”.

“Most communication-based campaigns, at their core, have the central mission to change people’s perceptions of reality, whether that reality pertains to something external(such as a political issue, an organization, etc.) or internal (self-concept)”. According to the quote I just showed you that it’s evidently clear that when the media and commercials are showing you an idea and trying to normalize it, then everyone would consider it reality whether its right or wrong depending on other people’s definition of right or wrong.

When I read this article, I see so many truths to it. Not just in the article, but also outside in real life. How the media tries to brainwash us and forces and their ideas onto us, by repeating it so many times on commercials burning it in our minds. The article discusses how humans are constantly adapting to their environment, specifically how to be in this society. I agree this holds an important amount of significance, because of those half hour commercials explaining how you have to donate to animals in need, and telling you how be a good person in society. If you rejected these public opinions, then you would be out casted by society. They think that if they get everyone to do what they want them to do we should too. and not necessarily everyone if only they could just find a good majority of people. If you think that you shouldn’t do it don’t pursue it just because everyone else is. Which is still happening in society. Unfortunately, though belief can be changed easily when it comes to where you want to fit in with your friends or coworkers that ends with this quote,

“When beliefs are actually held by a great many people, there would be less of a need to validate those beliefs; social pressures would be greater to justify holding on to unpopular beliefs”.
