It is most often heard according to this ad that we shouldn’t drink and drive because people should consider that someone or yourself could get hurt or even die. The developers of this ad are warning us if we drive while we are drunk, we could possibly lose our lives or worse taking someone else’s life and no one would want that heavy a burden on their conscience.
In the ad, there are obviously two people punching each other with cars on their faces and fists, which is the main message they are trying to deliver. The message they are trying to tell us is that there is a possibility that no one could come out of a drunk car accident unscathed, and the color, size, and font of the word’s “Stop the Violence” and “Don’t drink and Drink and Drive” is definitely supposed to be seen as a serious warning.
Now, looking upon the company advertising this picture, called Ecovia as it says on the picture in green, it is a bus rapid transit to system in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon and their target audience is any person of all ages that are allowed to drive even teenagers who do not have a license and uses fake Id’s so they can drink. It is also directed to people who are drinking or anyone thinking of drinking, and or maybe to their employees driving the buses next to anyone who is driving that would might want to drink. Since drunk driving happens often, the company obviously does not want anyone to get hurt but they could also lose money for repairs for their own vehicles, hospital fees and if it was their responsibility there could be a lawsuit on their hands. So, that kind of company is probably trying everything they can including putting up ads like the one above to prevent pointless deaths and debts.
Now, these ads would have to end up in a bar, restaurant any place that would sell alcohol to remind people to be cautious, so they could call an uber or a close friend to drive them. There are some people who wouldn’t even look twice at the ad like people who are light weights and just doesn’t like drinking in general there are also some Muslim’s, Jew’s and Christians that take their religion seriously and does not drink at all because it is forbidden.
When looking at the ad the people punching each other appear to be adults which would appear to targeting only adults but it shouldn’t only be pointing at adults but to teenagers as well. You can’t really expect some kids to follow the law to wait until they are 21 to drink, and according to edgarsnyder.com up to “13.5% of 12th graders reported driving after drinking.” Which is why this ad should have been considering everyone of all age groups, just because there are laws doesn’t mean everyone is going to follow it. Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be anything missing or wrong with how ad is portrayed.
In conclusion, the last thing to add is that some people would think that it’s not just about drinking and driving but since the picture “says stop the violence”, it probably means don’t drink too much to the point where you could end up in a fight with other people. After thinking about what intentions the company is trying to tell us is that we should be careful and try to limit the number of casualties and deaths pointing towards drunk driving.
